Why Yanua?

The term “Yanua” comes from Sanskrit for “path”.

We all possess a life purpose and the ability to find it. By reconnecting with nature, rooting ourselves in our biological origins, we reconnect with our inner guide. This enables us to reset our body rhythms and discover our self-regulating tools. If you are faced with a major decision or seek a life change, we propose either 1:1 online or in-person sessions (native level in either English, French or Spanish), or several retreat options, including  a silent retreat, or a 3 to 5-day purpose quest.

Yanua España - La Llamada a la Reconexión

To explore your purpose and achieve greater meaning, we use gentle immersion in nature that serves as your guide, allowing you to reset your biological rhythms, and glimpse the answer to questions, as well as better discern your gifts and longings, to walk a more fulfilling life. This is done via Sacred Biology, created uniquely here, in and with Yanua.

You will be comfortably lodged and looked after in a diverse environment within a family farm where we foster projects that promote the wellbeing of the landscape, the local community and its visitors.

Contemporary experience and ancient wisdom show that rebuilding our bridge to nature allows new ideas to flow from within that are more difficult to access otherwise.

The 3 to 5-day purpose quest is an individual or group retreat with a guide who walks you through the preparation and integration of this personal experience. It possesses characteristics of the better-known vision quest that is practiced in various cultures. However, each person has their own needs, and this search for purpose is adapted to your situation at this moment in time and existing experience with being in nature (from low to high), with a proposal for intermittent fasting for those who do not have a nutritional limitation, and an organic vegan diet. Get in touch for the next available Purpose Quest retreat dates.

What is Sacred Biology for those seeking deeper meaning and wellbeing in their lives?

What is Sacred Biology for those seeking deeper meaning and wellbeing in their lives?

The Sacred Biology method is designed to achieve body-soul-mind integration by carefully fostering a reconnection with your personal essence. It uniquely combines Gestalt therapy within a context of experiential and practical ecopsychology, as well as conscious body movement practices, including breathwork. For individual or group sessions in person, immersion in nature is a central element of the Sacred Biology process, facilitating personal development and growth. We are custodians of the land in Yanua, living in a natural environment with forest, orchards, and unique views over the Ulla River valley. We cultivate not only plants but also foster a deep connection with non-human sentient beings, thanks to the rich biodiversity found in our orchard and forest. Our immersion in and connection with the natural environment means that what we transmit to others also carries the energy and expression of the earth: it was not created by us, but is co-created with us, and partly through us, where the earth also expresses its part, and to which we invite an attentive ear. We don’t teach theories or textbook information. Yanua and Sacred Biology are experiential. The experience we invite you to share serves as a guide to better understand the truth that already resides within us, and allows you to realize that this is the ultimate purpose: to live meaningfully, with a heightened awareness, helping you self-regulate, feel safe and deeply rooted in the world.

At this stage of my professional journey, I would briefly describe myself as a consultant in self-realization. I work with people who are ready to experience a transformation in their lives. My approach employs a humanistic and transpersonal perspective, focusing on the personal and professional fulfilment of my clients. “Transpersonal” refers to experiences, processes, and events that transcend the usual sense of identity, allowing one to experience a greater and more meaningful reality.

I have been trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, in addition to rigorous training in Gestalt therapy accredited by the Spanish Association of Gestalt Therapy, a federated training centre with international recognition. I integrate into this toolbox my own meditation practice, ongoing mentorship from a therapist and other teachers, my encounters and experiences with the beings in my environment, and important elements of ecopsychology that led me to create a holistic methodology, Sacred Biology, reflecting what we are, each person, each being, in our individuality, and in the collective we co-create. My goal is to help those who choose it to achieve harmony of the body-mind-soul triad to lead a full life and live with purpose. I have over three decades of experience as a research scientist in academia and as a team leader in a multinational corporation, consultancy work for several multinationals, founder of my own companies both domestically and internationally, author of more than 30 publications, a veterinary degree, and a membership in the American College of Veterinary Pathology as a clinical and comparative pathologist. Today, I hold a panpsychist worldview, having learned as a scientist that consciousness is not a condition unique to human beings, but extends to many other living beings. I adhere to the current theory of consciousness emerging from quantum physics, which considers consciousness as the source of creation: we are each person, each plant, each living being, a manifestation of the universe seeking to know itself, and therefore, we are interconnected beings. Sacred Biology is designed for the current situation of social collapse and drastic environmental changes that are scientifically documented. My goal is to help those who seek fundamental change and wish to reconnect with their essence, that is often buried under layers of conditioned responses, behaviours and  emotional wounds, and to feel the interconnection with the Earth, in order to achieve a fuller life and thus co-create a better world.

Like everyone, I have multiple facets to my identity, with a wealth of experiences that complement my consulting work. I’ve taught at public and private institutions, both secondary and university levels, and worked as a researcher and manager in multinational companies. Now, I run my own business. My partner, our daughters, and I have traveled and lived in various countries and cultures. I am also a daughter, sister, mother, teacher, scientist, healthcare professional, artist, and, with my partner Diederik, co-manager of Yanua and several of its forestry and agricultural sustainability and regeneration projects.

I am Yanua’s research scientist and farmer, using both my decades of academic training and generations’ long family farming background to blend hands on work with scientific rigour and logic to analyse the conditions of Yanua’s environment. This allows us to create and implement solutions that, while listening to the land, foster soil regeneration, biodiversity and sustainable agricultural and forestry practices. More widely, I am also a partner, son, brother and father: with children of our own, I am passionate about “improving futures”, learning and exploring within and together with our natural laboratory, factoring in measurable changes such as in the climate locally, or the effect of conventional farm practices that have eroded diversity, and problem-solving adaptations for a common, healthier tomorrow.
